"There one minute gone the next"

A spike in pet disappearances has hit Pocatello Idaho with pet owners distraught about missing animals, mostly cats and small-to-medium-size dogs which starting strangely vanishing in June with no bodies turning up.

Spring and Summer weather typically heraldeds the start of strange pet vanishings all over the world. This phenomena is being increasingly noticed by people as beloved pets seem to disappear without trace. Facebook sites devoted to localized missing pets are growing in number as people need an outlet for their confusion and grief. This has the effect of numbering the missing pets although the true number is unlikely to ever be known as many cats tend to lead secret lives and live in the background of communities.

The Bannock Humane Society keeps no records of the number of calls for missing pets, although the number of calls have increased steadily, peaking in October.
“I can’t give you any figures, it’s just that it’s an odd thing for me. It was in June when I started to notice more phone calls from owners of missing pets and there was an increase in October, and I started to pay more attention to it at that point.
There was one call in which two pugs disappeared simultaneously from their owner’s fenced-in yard.
“This was an actual case where the dogs were in her yard one minute and gone the next. There are no answers as to why we are getting more reports of missing pets.”

  1. One cannot get away from the fact that these pet/animal abductions are increasing at a frightening rate. To me this escalation in events is a bad sign.
